Research interest:

  • My research focuses on utilization of bacteriophages to control plant and mushroom bacterial diseases, as well as screening for bacteria from the phytobiome that could be used to antagonize bacterial pathogens. Currently, I am working on developing a phage cocktail that could be used to suppress bacterial blotch of mushroom, as well as screening for colonizing non-pathogenic bacteria for the ability to manage mushroom pathogens. My research with phages includes molecular characterization and lytic activity, as well as assessing their infection and/or integration mechanisms and how this may affect their virulence, physiological features, and competitive fitness of their carrier strains. By continuing this research, I aim to develop tools to enhance phage therapy by combining phage application with other methods of biological control for a successful strategy that minimizes economic, health and environmental risks.
