Buckhout Laboratory is the location of Penn State's Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology.
The Albert C. Hildebrandt Plant Pathology Library was established in 2003 through a gift to the Department of Plant Pathology from the estate of alumnus Albert C. Hildebrandt.

The Plant Disease Clinic is a service and education function of the Department of Plant Pathology, and provides clinical diagnoses of plant diseases for approximately 2,000 samples submitted annually by Pennsylvania agricultural producers, urban gardeners, and homeowners.
The goal of the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology is to select and breed crops that can stand up to bacterial, fungal, and viral diseases, and research conducted at the department’s farm leads to the development of crops with increased resistance to serious pathogens.
The Penn State Nematode Diagnostics Lab provides diagnostic support against economically important plan-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) from soil and plant materials as a service for growers, private persons, and other stakeholders.
