Penn State Extension has initiated hops variety and production trial at the Rock Springs Farm in Centre County, PA.
Most recently, a team of Penn State Extension Educators and Specialists received funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Specialty Crop Block Grant to develop sustainable hops production recommendations for the Pennsylvania hops industry using integrated pest management tools. In summer of 2015, our team planted an acre of hops comprised of 12 cultivars arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications to facilitate research.
Team members include Tanner Delvalle (project lead), Tom Ford, Tom Butzler, Elsa Sanchez, Ryan Elias, and Beth Gugino.
