Plant Disease Clinic
The Plant Disease Clinic is a service and education function of the Department of Plant Pathology, and provides clinical diagnoses of plant diseases for approximately 2,000 samples submitted annually by Pennsylvania agricultural producers, urban gardeners, and homeowners.
There is no charge for this service; however, only samples that have been collected from gardens or landscapes within the state of Pennsylvania can be accepted. To submit a sample for diagnosis, please follow the procedures below. If you are located outside of Pennsylvania, please contact the Cooperative Extension Service in your state.
• Contact your local Cooperative Extension Office to discuss the problem with an extension agent. If the extension agent is unable to diagnose the cause of the problem, you will be instructed to submit the sample to the Plant Disease Clinic for diagnosis.
• Complete the specimen information form, and carefully follow the accompanying instructions for selecting and sending the specimen. Please provide as much information as possible on the Information Form.
