John M. Skelly, 78 Sr., Ph.D., 78, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019.
Skelly retired from Penn State in 2004 as Professor Emeritus Plant Pathology and Physiology. His service and association with Penn State began with his undergraduate studies in Forestry in 1958, continued through two graduate degrees in Plant Pathology from 1962 to 1968 and then resumed in 1982 when he returned to the department as Professor and Head of the Department of Plant Pathology.
Skelly was a member of the American Phytopathological Society, Southwide Forest Pathology Workshop, National Air Pollution Workshop and Virginia Forestry Association. In 1975 he was awarded Outstanding Contributions to Forest Pest Control in the South by Southern Forest Disease & Insect Research Council, Sothern Forestry Institute.
