The Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology welcomes new research technologist, Shaheen Bibi, who joined Bull Lab earlier this month. Bibi will serve as the lab manager for the team.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology welcomes new research technologist, Shaheen Bibi, who joined Bull Lab earlier this month. Bibi will serve as the lab manager for the team.
Bibi's research will initially focus on characterization of bacteria associated with blackleg and soft rot of potatoes and investigating secondary metabolites in mushrooms.
While pursuing her doctorate, she worked with bacterial spot on pepper and tomato. Bibi has experience with molecular manipulation of bacteria to understand the plant-pathogen interaction and also assessed copper resistance in Xanthomonas perforans.
She holds a master's degree in virology and immunology from the National University of Science and Technology, Pakistan, a Master of Education from University of Peshawar, Pakistan, and a doctorate in plant pathology from University of Florida.
Bibi received a Fulbright Fellowship while pursuing her doctorate at the University of Florida.
