Plant Pathology Graduate Program Assistantship Opportunities

Plant Pathology Graduate Research Assistantships are available in the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology (PPEM) beginning August 2022 for highly qualified applicants. Applicants with strong demonstrated intellectual merit, and laboratory research experiences that have led to creative accomplishments are encouraged to apply to work with any of our faculty and nationally-recognized research programs.

Opportunities including Dual-Title Degrees, formal professional development training, and international research opportunities are available as part of these paid assistantships. Both Masters and Doctoral assistantships are available.

The assistantships listed below are updated throughout the academic year as additional funding becomes available.

Graduate Research Assistantship

The prospective Ph.D. student will study the molecular mechanism of plant-pathogen interactions and/or CRISPR/Cas technologies for genome editing, precision breeding and/or disease diagnostics. The student will have opportunities to develop new CRISPR/Cas tools and methods for improving precise genome editing in plants or microbes, generating and evaluating gene-edited crops, and/or enabling supersensitive detection of plant pathogens. Ph.D. applicants must have a B.S. or M.S. degree in biology, plant science or related fields and are expected to have a good background in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and/or biotechnology.
