Undergraduate Summer Researchers Welcomed

PPEM gave a special welcome today to six undergraduate students spending eight weeks this summer doing research and gaining valuable experience.

"Plant Friends and Foes" student fellows

Five Plant Friends and Foes student fellows funded by a United States Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (USDA NIFA AFRI) Undergraduate Research and Experiential Learning grant have arrived for the summer and were welcomed to the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology (PPEM) this morning:

  • Tresel Benjamin (Alcorn State)
  • Elena Christian (Penn State)
  • Mekiya Fletcher (Virginia State)
  • Octavio Rivera (University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez)
  • Amanda Sukhram (Morgan State)

Additionally, Marlia Bosques Ramírez (University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez) has joined Dr. Beth Gugino's lab as a Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) participant.
