2014 graduate Hilary Kessler Cheesman manages an Infectious Diseases and Immunology lab at UMass Medical School.

In the Infectious Diseases and Immunology division at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS), 2014 M.S. Plant Pathology graduate Hilary Kessler Cheesman is a new lab manager as of January 2016.  The Pukkila-Worley lab studies innate immunity in Caenorhabditis elegans, which is a perfect model for the human intestinal immune response and has taught Hilary a lot about immune response and genetics. Dr. Read Pukkila-Worley, a new UMMS professor, is Cheesman's Principal Investigator (PI) and mentor.

Hilary is also the first author on a paper published last month in G3: Genes | Genomes | Genetics titled "Aberrant Activation of p38 MAP Kinase-Dependent Innate Immune Responses Is Toxic to Caenorhabditis elegans."
