Posted: July 9, 2015

Ningxiao Li, Ph.D. candidate in Plant Biology, is a recipient of the 2015/2016 Storkan-Hanes-McCaslin Research Foundation Award and the 2015 Huck Dissertation Research Award. These awards will support her dissertation research, which is supervised by Dr. Seogchan Kang, on roles and modes of action of fungal volatiles in manipulating plants.

The Storkan-Hanes-McCaslin Research Foundation Award is named in honor of Richard C. Storkan, Gerald L. Hanes, and Robert L. McCaslin and supports research by graduate students who have demonstrated interest in soil-borne diseases and their control. In addition to unrestricted cash awards (which range from $5,000 to $10,000 and can be used for any purpose that will benefit the education of the student, including personal expenses), new awardees will also receive round-trip fares to the APS Annual Meeting and are presented their awards at a luncheon attended by their research advisers, previous awardees, and members of the Foundation Committee.

The Huck Dissertation Research Award ($5,000) supports research-related expenses.
