Ph.D. candidate Rob Harvey invited Dr. Nina Shishkoff, Foreign Disease-Weed Science Research Plant Pathologist at the United States Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS), to visit the labs of Drs. Donald D. Davis and John A. Pecchia this week.  At today's luncheon with nineteen Dept. of Plant Pathology & Environmental Microbiology (PPEM) faculty and students, Dr. Shishkoff provided an interesting perspective on her work in the USDA-ARS Biological Safety Level (BSL)-3 containment facility in Fort Detrick, MD, as well as on her work on boxwood blight and downey mildew.  For more information on BSL-3 containment facilities, see Biosafety Level 3 Program.
