Wilkinson-Assisted Space Experiment Launched

Successful rocket launch at 12:45 a.m. today takes mushroom experiment to International Space Station on Wednesday.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon cargo spacecraft launched at 12:45 a.m. today.  The Mission 8 International Space Station (ISS) Kitty Hawk payload includes fifteen Student Spaceflight Experiment Program (SSEP) flight experiments,  one of which Research Support Technologist Vija Wilkinson helped Kansas City's Notre Dame de Sion School 5th grade students to prepare. The experiment is titled "The Shape and Growth of Small Mushrooms in Space" and arrives at the ISS Kitty Hawk on Wednesday, July 20.
