Plant Disease Management and Adaptive Research

This research is focused on understanding the biotic, abiotic and environmental causes of plant diseases and on translating this knowledge into effective and practical disease management strategies.

Cultural, chemical, biotechnological, and biological approaches are developed to control plant diseases in native and agricultural ecosystems and to manage invasive species.

Our programs are committed to developing research-based information to support Pennsylvania potato production. Research focuses on potato germplasm evaluation and potato disease management.

The Plant Disease Clinic is a service and education function of the Department of Plant Pathology, and provides clinical diagnoses of plant diseases for approximately 2,000 samples submitted annually by Pennsylvania agricultural producers, urban gardeners, and homeowners.

Our mission is to provide assistance to the turfgrass industry in Pennsylvania in maintaining high quality turf through integrated turfgrass health management practices.
