Dr. Emily Pfeufer is Assistant Extension Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Kentucky. She has statewide responsibilities for diseases of vegetables and tobacco, and some of her projects focus on optimizing biological and chemical disease management, elucidating pathogen resistance to fungicides, and reinforcing county extension agent training.

Emily and her husband Andy Kelly welcomed their son, Gabriel Joseph Kelly, in August 2016. They live in the Lexington, Kentucky, area and spend their weekends hiking, cooking, and working on do-it-yourself projects at their new house.

Pfeufer received her M.S. in Plant Pathology from Penn State in 2010 (advised by Dr. Henry K. Ngugi) and her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology in 2014 (advised by Dr. Beth Gugino). Emily worked as a postdoctoral scholar in the Gugino lab until she accepted a position at the University of Kentucky in the spring of 2015.
