Plant Pathology and Mycology at Millbrook Marsh
Posted: April 17, 2016
On April 17 Millbrook Marsh held its tenth annual Earth Day Birthday event. Centre Region families enjoyed many educational programs, wildlife exhibits, and fun activities sponsored by a variety of organizations and staffed by volunteers, including those from the Dept. of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology.
Ph.D. candidate Christopher Smyth set up an interactive table for plant pathology and mycology, which gave children and adults a first-hand glimpse of fungi and the opportunity to learn about the diseases fungi cause in our agricultural systems. Research Technologist Kimberly Paley supplied oyster mushrooms and Dr. Tim McNellis, Senior Research Assistant Judy Sinn, and Ph.D. candidates Bastian Minkenberg and Ningxiao Li helped to staff the table throughout the afternoon.
