On January 15, 2016, members of the Fruit Research and Extension Center (FREC)'s tree fruit pathology lab (Carl Bower, Brian Lehman, Teresa Krawczyk, and Kari Peter) rolled up their sleeves to sell apple products at the State Horticultural Association of Pennsylvania (SHAP) booth in the Pennsylvania Farm Show food court to help raise money for the apple and fruit tree industry.

FREC is one of the SHAP booth’s major benefactors of the proceeds raised.  To show gratitude for SHAP’s support, FREC faculty and staff help run the SHAP booth one day every year during the week of the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

The food court is one of the most popular attractions at the Farm Show, and this year was no exception.  The SHAP booth volunteers sold apple cider, fresh apples, apple dumplings with ice cream, apple butter, cider floats, caramel apples on a stick, dried apple snacks, cider slushies, and apple or peach sundaes.
