The Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology (PPEM) welcomed department member and seminar speaker Bryan Hed on September 26. Brian's talk was titled "Penn State grape disease management research: the Lake Erie Regional Grape Research and Extension Center" (LERGREC)

LERGREC began its mission in 1948, and Bryan has worked as Research Technologist there for seventeen years. In his seminar he provided background information about Pennsylvania grape production and the major disease challenges faced by grape growers in our state. Additionally, Bryan presented the results of recent research projects aimed at helping growers effectively combat perennial problems.

During his visit Bryan also met with faculty members and graduate students, many of whom enjoyed a pizza dinner with Bryan in Buckhout Lab following his seminar.
