Freddy Magdama teamed up with Sarah Eissler to present a research project for the Dow-Sustainability Innovation Student Challenge Awards (SISCA).  Both students pursue the INTAD dual-title degree. Their project, titled “Innovative use and optimization of ethyl pyruvate for biological soil disinfestation: A viable alternative for saving bananas and beyond,” aims to address the need for new non-toxic alternatives for controlling soil-borne plant pathogens worldwide using bananas as a model. Penn State’s Sustainability Institute highlighted their project, along with four other projects.
