In Bolivia, they met with collaborators at PROINPA (Promotion and Investigation of Andean Products) Foundation. They planned research to be done in Bolivia and identified tasks that could be performed at Penn State. They visited numerous quinoa and fava bean fields in the Bolivian Altiplano near Cochabamba, which was quite an adventure that involved a rescue by Andean farmers after the research truck got stuck in the mud. Anna and Hilary learned a great deal about Bolivian crops and their diseases and also enjoyed the opportunity to visit Bolivia.
